GeoWall

GeoWall is one of the dirtier projects.  This is the geotechnical specific project ran through the UCLA CalGeo Chapter which aims to design a retaining wall made entirely of paper.  This "paper thin" wall holds up hundreds of pounds of sand without failing when designed correctly.  The competition is scored on the design, a presentation, and the effectiveness of the wall.  Team members work together to assemble the wall while adding in the regulation soil provided during competition.  This project also competes at the Pacific South West Conference.  The team meets in the soils lab on the first floor of Boelter Hall where they spend all year testing and designing for a stronger more efficient wall.
