General Membership
How do I join?
Joining is quick and easy! Simply fill out a Membership Form and turn it in, with the $25 annual membership fee, to any ASCE Officer or at the ASCE Lounge (Boelter Hall 2745).
Do I have to be a Civil Engineer to join?
Anyone can (and should) join ASCE!
How often do I pay dues?
Dues are a one-time $25 annual fee.
What does my $25 get me?
$25 dollars gets you a free membership T-Shirt, access to all ASCE at UCLA events, subscription to the weekly newsletter, scholarship updates and opportunities, free sunglasses*, and access to a community of fellow classmates to provide academic and social support.
What is National Membership?
Filling out the ASCE at UCLA Membership Form is only the first step. To complete your membership, every member is encouraged to register online at http://www.asce.org/Membership/Membership-%E2%80%93-Join-Today/ to become a national member. Notify our Membership Chair of your confirmed National Membership for a free pair of ASCE sunglasses! (Please note that national membership must be renewed every year.)
Events
Where can I see upcoming events?
Upcoming events can be viewed on the ASCE at UCLA Public Calendar and are posted in the ASCE Lounge. If you ever have questions about an upcoming event, ASCE Officers are always available to answer any and all inquires.
What if I miss an event?
It’s no secret that we probably host more events than possible for one person to attend. We offer so many events so that members have many opportunities to get involved. Whether you attend 1 event or 100 events, we’re happy to have you attend any event.
Who do I contact for Event Information?
If you're ever curious abour upcoming events or have any question at all, feel free to email us at uclaasce@gmail.com. The Officer Conctact information can be found from the site map at the bottom of the page or the menu at the top of the page.
Projects
What if I don’t want to participate in projects?
We understand that not every aspect of ASCE will suit your fancy. If you only wish to join ASCE at UCLA for one aspect, that is fine. Maybe you just want to attend professional development events? Perhaps you just really enjoy our mentorship and social activities? Whatever you like about ASCE is what you should do. Be warned though, we’re a fun bunch so you may just find yourself involved in all aspects of ASCE before you even know it!
Where can I see upcoming project information?
Project workdays are posted on our calendar, the weekly newsletter, and the project pages. You can also email our Project Managers with any questions or drop by the lounge at any time (BH 2745).
Professional Development
How do I become an Officer?
Elections are held every Spring Quarter. The ability to run for a position and vote are privileges given to all ASCE members. There are also opportunities to get involved in a leadership role by joining a committee or getting involved in a project. For more information you can contact any ASCE Officer or Project Manager (Information found on the ‘Contact’ page).
What professional development events are available for freshmen?
All our professional development events are open to all ASCE Members. We host information sessions, workshops, career fairs, field trips, resume workshops, mock interview, class planning workshops, and much more. For our full list of events you can always check our calendar.
Sponsorship
How do I become a sponsor?
Please visit our sponsor page to see the shipping/mailing address for our organization, or visit the Career Fair page for information on how to register.
How much do I need to donate to be a sponsor?
We gladly accept any donation, big or small. We are very gracious and show recognition to our generous donors. Without the generousity of our sponsor our organization wouldn't be the success it currently is.
Alumni
Is there an alumni email list?
Glad you asked! There is an Alumni Email List which all alumni events and newsletters are sent to. To join the list, please email uclaasce@gmail.com to display your interest.
What events are there for Alumi?
We have the Alumni Tailgate in Fall, an Alumni Panel proposed for Winter, and Alumni BBQ's proposed for the Spring. To get more involved please visit the Officer Contact Page and email our Outreach Coordinator =)
