There are a variety of professional development events that ASCE at UCLA has to offer. Information sessions, career fairs, and workshops are just a few of the many opportunities that ASCE offers. Members are exposed to industry through many different networking platforms. On top of that there is a full schedule of events set-up throughout the year that aim to help students develop their networking skills. Please continue to read below for some of the many activities ASCE at UCLA has to offer.
Resume Workshop
Students are aided by fellow members and industry representatives to help perfect their resumes. Almost all of our active ASCE at UCLA members obtain summer internships or research. Through experience senior members are able to give valuable advice to underclassmen. Also, through the help of LA YMF we are able to host industry representatives who come to UCLA for a night to read student’s resumes and give them advice from the other side of the table.
Mock Interview
Identical to real interviews, mock interviews allow students to hone their interview skills and gain confidence when talking to an industry representative one-on-one. Industry representatives give real-time feedback to students and critic their posture, presence, and content. These events are held before our career fairs to give students every advantage they need when it comes to the real deal.
Software Workshops
Through collaboration with other student organizations, like Chi Epsilon, ASCE at UCLA is able to present workshops teaching AutoCad, SAP2000, MatLab, and other useful software. These workshops are

hosted multiple times throughout the entire year. Each event is another chance for members to boost their ability to perform in and out of the classroom with newfound software skills.
Along with these events, there are also workshops offered periodically in various other topics. Writing workshops, “proper networking follow-up”, “how to make an impression”, are just some of the many more workshops that members can expect to see from ASCE at UCLA in the upcoming year.
